The last couple days in pictures and small enough words

It is always my job to do the christmas decorating...while the boy does this...

And dad does that...

I think its actually getting the tree looking like a tree is the most time consuming part every year...

So I usually wander away from it in search of other, quicker things...like the mini nativity

But the tree always gets there in the end...

Then, to get out of the house, I mite go take some pictures of the real deal

Or discover that a very naughty pooch has broken my heart

So I cheer myself up by setting up the houses (my slowly growing collection)

And making a totally different display to last year, which made me happy

Because it was fun :)

And then look at my cat, because she's amazing...and tastes just like raisins ^_^

And go for a walk, with the man with the parka...

And Kiaya, in her wintery wonderland

And notice that all animals, no matter their colour, look better in the snow...white on white is a lovely combo, it cannot be denied :)

And pretty cotton candy colored sunsets... ***swoon*** make me feel light headed and girly <3

And of course the moon...no day could end without her gentle smile

Only to arrive home to the SECOND scrabble game of the evening...

"Goat Girl"

"Dim Fat Nit Die"....the sooner the aul pair get the box fixed the better, me thinks...for my sanity, if not theirs...

Only messing...I think its really sweet...them playing board games with each other :)

hmm...

I have a list the length of my arm for today...really thought I was on top of everything...why do I leave everything to the last minute....but, even if everything else goes out the window, and doesn't manage to get done...I am DEFINITELY doing this today...I am I am I am

Decorations

The Christmas decorations are finally up...it literally took me all day to do.
Ive lost track of how many Christmases this will be that I have done all the decorating myself...
This year I have done a completely different display of the houses, which I'm happy enough with...Mum likes it, so thats good, and dad thinks its nice too...
The little mini nativity is probably what I am happiest with...I like where it has found its place, finally...because usually its somewhere where it cant be seen, and it just gets kicked around the place.
I didn't bother putting up the third nativity, because, I could be bothered...3 nativities in one house is a bit much anyway, I think... 0.0
There are a few little tweaky bits to do tomorrow, but for the most part it is completely done, thankfully.
As much as I love doing it, especially the weekend before, it really knocks me out...
I also have to sort and finalize christmas presents tomorrow, and start making cards...and name tags for the wrapped presents, so I don't forget who is getting what...
and if I get all that done...on top of laundry and tidying my room, which is looking so sorry for itself...I mite pop on a few extra million layers and do this in the snow...

**** Snow ****

The walk in to the post office yesterday morning. The first picture is of the rail way tracks...so pretty.
Then it started to snow when I was walking up town...and thats the statue next to the post office :)

And me, caked in snow after town :)

My footprint heart I did in the back garden last night

The best picture I HAVE EVER TAKEN OF GWYN EVER

Home...why would I ever leave ???

And Reilly, looking like a handsome devil

Just when we thought that maybe we had lived through the cold snap, to tell the tale, December has hit us with yet another powdering...a dusting if you will...a SHED LOAD of snow....but Im not complaining. Yesterday, when I looked out, and saw the white blanket that covered everything, I just beamed to myself. Snow has the ability to knock any bad mood, ill feeling, uncertainty, pessimism, and gereral 'meh-ness' that I may be experiencing. It completely lifts me out of myself. And, yes...I know that its a pain, and everything else...but I just don't see that side of things.
It slows time right down. It makes us take stock of what we have (literally)...we become creative, resourceful, or incredibly determined...depending on the circumstances.

And really, everything else aside...everything just looks so beautiful, dressed in white.

Why buy new clothes, when you can just change the colour of the ones you already have ?

This is an ever so simple, step by step guide to dyeing clothes for the eco/money/fashion conscious minded out there. Follow these instructions EXACTLY for winning results (see image above)

  1. Assemble the wanted clothing, and dye stuffs. (This is the most important step)
  2. Pour the dye, into the drum of the washing machine. There is no need to wear gloves...the powder, which inevitable will cling to your slightly damp hands (after having to soak the clothes) will make a lovely speckeled-y effect across your skin once it develops...several minutes later.
  3. Then cover the powdered dye with 500g of salt.
  4. Place the dampened clothing into the washing machine, on top of the salt, which is on top of the dye.
  5. Don't worry about actually closing the washing machine door...the hour you kill waiting for the cycle to finish, will be the best spent hour of your life... -.-
  6. And when you do go back and find that nothing has happened, except the dye has soaked into the damp fabric in great big, dark splotches, don't worry...a few hail mary's will sort that right out...

Ok...so I must have left my brain behind when I was dyeing these two dresses this time last night...but, hey...I think the results speak for themselves...it was a success, even if the colour wasn't exactly what I had imagined...but its ok. I can live with TWO dark green dresses :)

My residency is nearly at an end...
It was so much fun, and as Felicity said, you get into a rythme, and everything is alot easier when you can just be in a place, and not having to keep leaving and coming back and going and slobberring around the place. Its sort of nice to become a part of something as well.
I really love working with Jane. I think I get alot out of it. She makes me think more about what Im doing...so everything is better for it. I think we have a good energy, and we can bounce things off each other, very easily. And we talk alot. Which is nice :) I love talking :)

I really liked today. I actually got up this morning, and had breakfast with Meabh and Bee...did some sewing...did alot of sewing actually, in fairness...had the most awsome lunch of home made potatoe cakes, roasted butternut squash, red cabbage and sweet corn relish...NOM fucking NOM...

Then went to Claremorris with Meabh for her swimming lesson, and I sat in and watched. It was hotter then hell in there, but Meabh was really good, so I grinned and bore it ;)
On the way home it began to snow again...i love driving through snow. it is one of my most favorite things in the whole wide world :) it totally facinates me, and always has.
Got back to the house, and had a bite to eat...the girls were in really good form tonight, and while Felicity was over visiting, me and the 3 of them went in to the sitting room and we were all talking about things...they are such good craic...i cant get over it :D. Roisin is deadly, awful sound and so funny...Bee is absolutely hilarious, she had me totally cracked up...the were showing me videos on youtube, and talking about school, and i cant even remember what they were on about now, but they were funny, and it was nice hanging out with them.
I think they are fond of me :)

Then later we were all giggleing over facebook things, and talking about  friends, and dramas etc etc...gir talk, i guess...its been awhile since ive had a girl talk session ;)
So yes...im slightly knackered now, but im going to leave this last bit of sewing for the morning to do...
the boy is coming home tomorro, weather permitting...and i actually cant wait
im so excited
think this is the longest ive gone without seeing him since kylemore...???
hopefully get some christmas decorations sorted out tomorro too....maybe....or at least wrap presents..and tidy my bombsite of a room.

sleepy...
nite nite
