Why buy new clothes, when you can just change the colour of the ones you already have ?

This is an ever so simple, step by step guide to dyeing clothes for the eco/money/fashion conscious minded out there. Follow these instructions EXACTLY for winning results (see image above)

  1. Assemble the wanted clothing, and dye stuffs. (This is the most important step)
  2. Pour the dye, into the drum of the washing machine. There is no need to wear gloves...the powder, which inevitable will cling to your slightly damp hands (after having to soak the clothes) will make a lovely speckeled-y effect across your skin once it develops...several minutes later.
  3. Then cover the powdered dye with 500g of salt.
  4. Place the dampened clothing into the washing machine, on top of the salt, which is on top of the dye.
  5. Don't worry about actually closing the washing machine door...the hour you kill waiting for the cycle to finish, will be the best spent hour of your life... -.-
  6. And when you do go back and find that nothing has happened, except the dye has soaked into the damp fabric in great big, dark splotches, don't worry...a few hail mary's will sort that right out...

Ok...so I must have left my brain behind when I was dyeing these two dresses this time last night...but, hey...I think the results speak for themselves...it was a success, even if the colour wasn't exactly what I had imagined...but its ok. I can live with TWO dark green dresses :)
